Going out of garibaldi tuesday at sun up. Will be in a 21 foot bayliner Trophy, give me a holler if you see us.
Do any of you know how the ocean was today and forecast for tomorrow.? Also are they still catching them like we were last week? Thanks for any response. Cagey

Today was rough going from what my friend told me who lives in Barview. I also called Garibaldi Marina and Jeff said the same thing. It was foggy and the both told me the bar was closed early. They both said that the Charters even turned around this morning.

The bar opened later on but most boats had already called it a day, or they went to the Nehalem river to fish.

I do know that some boats went out yesterday, but it was a rough ride. One boat did come back with 5 fish, according to Jeff and that 3 or 4 of them were chinook. I think they're still out there and that it should be good once we're able to get after them again.

The winds are supposed to be letting up a bit by Tuesday but who knows about the fog. Whenever it's over 85 up here, it can be foggy at the coast.

Call Jeff at Garibaldi Marina on Monday for an update. 503-322-3312....good luck.

I was at Geribaldi and Nehalem today. See my recent OCEAN REPORT posts for the answers to most of your questions. I spoke to a man who said they were killing them late last week, but the wind squelched that this weekend.

After seeing the ocean today, and the current NOAA forcast, I suggest moving your trip to Wednesday if possible...that will be best day by far this week (lowest swell AND lowest wind), assuming the report does not change drastically. I'll probably be there...want to buddy up?

Angle,

Let me know if you go on Wednesday, as I might be looking at that day as well. I see the forecast is best for that day and it looks like the winds might start picking back up late next week, just in time for the weekend. Also, what channel on the VHF / CB do you monitor?

And, is you handle, *********?

Thanks.

Actually i am going with a guy who has a new 21 ft Bayliner Trophy. I have not seen the boat but i assume it is blue and white.

Sure we would be glad to buddy up. What type boat and the color is yours.?

We will be leaving from Hillsboro around 3am and driving straight to Garibaldi so i guess we should be at the ramp at least by 5am.

BullHead you might just as well join up with us.

Even if we go tuesday we will still be there to go out on wed as we are making it a two day trip. We may make that Wed, and Thur.
Thanks for all the info. Hope we see you there.

Bullhead, I monitor 16 and 77, generally speaking, unless other arrangements are made for another channel. My vessel name is Adrianna and I will answer to that or to *********.

The latest forcast shows both Tues and Wed as fairly decent days. We have moderate swell on short interval, but minimal wind. I am hoping to get out on Tuesday, and if I do , will say over and do Wed morning as well. But business is brisk with interest rates so low so I won't know if I can go tomorrow until lateer today.

Why don't you email me with your number and we'll stratigize out a floatilla.

Very low tide tomorrow morning will probably make crossing impossible early. My game plan at present is to arrive Geribaldi mid morning tomorrow and fish the afternoon. Come Wed, I hope to get out before the low tide for the early morning bite. See my post OCEAN REPORT, at the bottom for my float plan.

I'll try to get out there by noon, and will hale for "any ifish.net member in range" for a report and return buddy ups.

Whether I do or I don't find a crewmate, I'll head out, if just for the boat ride tomorrow afternoon. I want to see what to expect on Wednesday, at which time I am going to fish serioiusly with Tim.

To those planning on Astoria tomorrow, I have been advising against it because of the extreme low tide, despite negligible winds. Guess what?...NOAA has just posted a small craft advisory for the CRB tomorrow morning. See ya all in Geribaldi.

Angle,

I tried to e-mail you but for some reason it's not going through. I will try to be there Wednesday. I have a 20' blk/silver Intruder. OR416AAA. I'll try you on your radio on 16 and 77. Take care and good luck tomorrow if you go out.

Thanks.

See you guys there. I'll be leaving Beaverton about 3:15. I'll be monitoring 16 and 77 as well. I will also be in a 21 ft. Bayliner Trophy. Assuming the bar crossing goes well, we get into salmon right away, and the ocean is as calm as they say it will be.....I may have to wonder out a little and look for fins!
