Default Woodland bankie report...

Went 0-1 today off the woodland bar fishin' with fshklr and KingFisher85- plus "the lurker," and fshklr's "significant fishing partner" good fishing with you gents and lady, wish I had landed instead of swung and missed on that bell ringer. Thanks for showing us the ropes and being so friendly Dan, we'll do it again sometime, soon hopefully, and hopefully use the wood shampoo next time. Maybe we oughta bbq, I'll get hot dogs if you bring low carb buns! Tight lines all, TOC.

Hey! Reel worked pretty darn well the other day, was fishing it at frenchmen's, then decided to switch reels when I got boxed in by two other guys because braid is sorta a no no there. I'm in the process of swapping some line from reel to reel to reel, so I can get mono on it, then fall into the "plunking norms." I'm stolked about it though, and Dan was using a pair of 200-G today too! They casted rather impressively and he had good things to say about them, so I'm hitting up FMs tomorrow for 2 cent a yard, 30 lb maxima. Btw, should mention that I think the bell ringer was on a green and chartruese spinning cheater (might have to go to Alaska to get one) and a prawn!

It was good day with good company. Lot's of laughs with a few more stopping by to say hello.

Big Tule,
A pass is needed and the security rig did make a drive by but only waved and continued on.

TULE- the man that you'll want to talk to is the bank master ask fshklr. This was my first day fishing Woodland Bar, I'm usually either fishin' from a boat, or at Frenchmen's. I fished Frenchmen's monday and wednesday this week, and on a whim decided to fish Woodland today instead. To get to the bar you take either Woodland exit and make your way to the dike rd, which will run parellel to the river, and the bar there.

fshklr tells me that you can get the pass in woodland at the Port of Woodland office (I think), which is on the main rd through downtown on your way to the dike. Apparently you can get them Monday through Friday, free of cost. While I think I could find the place (can see it in my head) I'm not fimiliar enough to give directions!

Once you have your entry permit from the port of woodland, you can get there a couple of ways. My favorite is to go around the lake instead of through town, or though downtown woodland and turn left like you wanted to go to the lilac garden, follow the road to the fork by walts meats and turn right, over the rr tracks and keep going straight, at the dike road you hit a t. turn left and follow it just past the heavy equipment school, there is a gate, go through it and follow the tracks through the woods along the river, before you know it you will be at the mouth of the lewis. I do not know if this is where the other guys are fishing from but it's one of the places I go down there.

Is that pass the same thing as the green sticker you get when you buy a license?

I was wondering how it went on the Woodland bar this weekend. I was planning on going Sunday, but ended up not making it. Only went to Frenchman's late in the day. Didn't see anything got while we were there, but we didn't walk the beach to talk to anyone either. Did hear of a 20-25 pound native on Friday that was released. Nothing more me during the few hours on Friday and Sunday that I spent.

And exactly what pass is it for Woodland bar??? I always thought it was the yellow sticker you got with your license. Can someone clear this up? I've been down there at the mouth by entering the gate just south of the heavy equipment school a lot and the security guy gives a wave and smiles all the time. I've even seen sherrif vehicles down there. Anyways, if someone can shed some light on the vehicle pass situation, that would be great!

I have never seen signs requiring use of permits to fish out on the bank.
But I always enter near the RV park.
Maybe for someone entering directly at the L Park needs one. I heard the story behind getting a permit is that some dirt-biker got injured and sued city of Woodland.

I called the Port of Woodland and the lowdown on the permit is this.

$5 gets a 2 year pass. The property is privately owned by the town of Woodland and they want to make sure it doesn't get misused.

The pass is different from the green/yellow sticker issued when you get a fishing license as that sticker is for state maintained areas.

My understanding is that it's not just the yellow sticker, but a seperate sticker from the port. I recall seeing signs up by the mouth, by the heavy equipment training, RV Park area, and Lions park. However, the security guy did drive by and didn't seem to concerned yesterday, I didn't hear the motorcycle story but I'm sure it's a liability/terms of use thing.

BTW I lost one yesterday at the mouth, it broke my spinglo leader clean off as I was talking with the guy next to me @4:20. I wasn't fast enough to get the rod. Just saw it double over and then go slack.
I did see someone with a jumping steely that got self liberated also.

I see/hear motorcycles whipping through there every now and then. Thanks 175 for the info on the passes. Did they mention where exactly to pick them up at? I guess I'll have to get one now.

To clear up the PASS issue.

It is actually a permit and is a letter issued by the port of woodland and is FREE!!
If push came to shove your can be ticketed for tresspassing without it. It is not stateland so your parking permit is void there..you need the port pass/letter from the Port of Woodland.

You have to show current valid I.D. and it is good for the term of 1 yr from the day it is issued. There are several white signs with black letters that say tresspassing by permit only at each bar entrance issued by the port of woodland.
They are talking of installing gates and make it timed entry..open dawn to dusk.

They have been having enormous trouble with abandoned cars and vandalism as well and homesteading/ camping. They are trying to keep the riff raff and garbage out hence the new security vehicles monitoring the area.

The office is located 2 blocks south of Bank of America on the left hand side.

Take exit 21 and head west on main road..the bank is 2 blocks past the park n ride..another 2 blocks is the port office!

Thanks Fshklr for the info. I'll stop in and pick one up the next time I'm up there. I've seen those abandoned cars/trucks there and that is just horrible. That is a great area for bankies to go. I love being able to drive right to my spot and being able to sit in the back of the truck, not having to haul a bunch of stuff down from a parking lot. I'd like to head up this weekend, hopefully on Sunday.

Here are the Directions I got in an e-mail from the Port of woodland.

"Port office located at 141 Davidson (downtown) between the hours of 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm.

The information we will need is your home address, drivers license number, license plate number and make and model of your vehicle.

The cost of the permit is $5 and it is good for 2-years from the date of issuance"

I stopped by the Port of Woodland last week to get my free pass and it now costs $5.00 for 2 years.

I have been getting free ones for years but they are now charging.

Let me know if you get a free one.

It is also no longer letter size. It is a small card that fits in your wallet.
