What a Fish
Here's a shot of a dandy we caught last week. I am pretty sure this is the biggest steelhead I have ever seen. The pic doesn't really do it justice. But just notice how small my fingers look behind the pec fins. It had measurements of slightly under 43 inches of length and slighlty over 26 inches of girth. Well over 20 lbs probably closer to 30 than 20. Deffinitely once in a lifetime fish for the lucky angler. And a perfect touch to an already great steelhead season.

Re: What a Fish
Sweet fish Travis. Seems like just lasr week you were complaining about how I had caught all the hogs. See what it got ya Makes all mine look like trout. 43 x 26 equals 36+ pounds on the length girth charts.

Re: What a Fish
Scott, I would complain more if that was the end result
A friend of mind figured it out to 28.29 lbs on the formula he used. But its realy hard to say, I am sure its over 25 though. Once I first saw the fish and had an idea how big it was I was a nervous wreck until it was in my hands. Luckily my client was as cool as a cucumber. It really put the 8lb line to the test.

Re: What a Fish
Travis,
I went to the Willie Boat site and used the calculator there and it put that steelhead at over 37lbs. I wonder what is the diff. in formulas. It looks to be over 30 to me. Awesome! A job well done. I can't wait to get over to the coast to try my hand at trophy natives.

Re: What a Fish
What a steelhead!! With those measurements it is all over 30lbs! 35lbs is more likely. I know what you mean about a picture not doing justice to the fish, but the measurements don't lie. And that fish is still out there swimming! Way to go!

I saw that and said "WOW", did the LxG2-:-775=? and said No I had to hit the wrong # so I did it 2 more times and then did it using -:-800 and the answer was always REALLY BIG
Great job letting me dream some more.

Re: What a Fish
I know you guys don't want to give out where all these huge steelhead have been getting caught lately but I figured it out.
Because of the extreme size of these steelhead being posted lately I know there is some external unnatural influence going on here. Regular steelhead just don't get that big.
I bet you guys caught them in the CR up near Hanford, right? Nuclear waste leaking into the CR. Fish getting mutated to extreme sizes. I bet you were using those local oversize frogs to catch em with to, right? Yeah, I've been reading about this in The Enquirer lately. Go ahead and try to keep your honey hole secret but I am going to make thousands of dollars telling the rag tag mags. about this secret hole.
Seriously, don't apologize for the pic. It's great and that fish is awesome. Great Job.

Re: What a Fish
Man alive Travis!!
That has got to be the biggest Oregon Steely in recent history.
People don't appreciate that you are what, 6' 3" with pretty big hands. It's not like Kevin Lund is holding it I can't believe those fluoro leaders held that thing...well, there you go.
A pic from a downward angle doesn't look as big either.
It's HUGE!!
Awesome job man.
