Default Notice of impending ifish (doom) closure:

Just got the e mail of doom from the guy who does the import.
He says:
Quote:
Hey

I can do the final import for you tonight if you like. What do you think?
<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helvetica">What do I think? I think I need to go meditate a while!

ARGH! I'M SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK... writing back... But you guys, I have TONS of work to do, as the import does not set all of the settings correctly, so I may be down for up to 24 hours. Please, stay with me!!!

I think they are coming up with a product for ifish withdrawals. It comes in gum form, patch form, and pill form. Order yours, today!

Jen

I'm going fishing. I am in denial.
Six pound test, size 1 hook, and a small cluster of eggs under a bobber sound good?
OK! I'll go try it!
BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

DENIAL IS GRAND!

No need for anyone to go through withdrawals. Go out and fish. It's hard to type when you are casting and retreiving and catching and loosing anyway.

Bring it on, if anything, more people will fish for a few days.

Jennie, are you sure you trust this guy? Sounds like a flake. I hope ifish doesn't meat the button of doom tonight.

Are the topics, pictures, avatars going to all transfer over, or do we all need to start from scratch?

I don't think he's a flake. I think he runs a hospice program, and is very busy with unexplained departures.
Yes, most everything will be there, but we are starting with a new picture upload feature.
You can bookmark the old one for now, but soon it will be gone...

OK! NEWS FLASH!

I thought we were going to do it tonight. NOPE! Whoo hooo! Man, I've been panicked all day, thinking I would be working into the night. I was so hyped and worried. I tried to take a nap before the proposed 7:00 PM deadline, but I was way too nervous!

Now, the word is Wednesday night! I wish it were in the morning, but it just plain won't be. I WILL be working into the night. However, I can take a nap in prep that day.

So schedule me an all nighter for Wednesday Night. Please send plenty of hot chocolate and cookies.

Sadly, there are no member number transfers on Threads, from UBB Classic. :depressed: :depressed:

Isn't that a bummer?

But we do have post totals, and all posts transfer.

To all of you who are nervous about this:

Not to worry. Jennie has had to deal with the worst part of it. Our part will be easy compared to what she's had to deal with. Believe me, I know first hand....well, not about the transfer issues, but the intitial setup is enough to drive someone to fish.

It will all be good! Personally, I look forward to seeing it!

Press on, Jennie!

Hey Mad Mikey, putting your member number in your signature line isn't a half bad idea, maybe everyeone who it's important to should do this?

Not really a big deal to me either but I have had fun comparing others' member # with their register date, # of posts etc. I'll probably throw mine on the tag line just for kicks.

Lesse, some guy named "Mad Mikey" registered in Dec., 01 and has 1035 posts. That's a dismal 38.3 posts per month or PPM as a rough average, PPD would be about 1.26... and so on.
Hmmm, I am so SLOW! But good things take time.

Like I said, it will be pretty smooth for the ifishers. It's just tough on the admin, as we don't have the tools at our disposal, that we have with UBB. It will be quite a change, and not nearly as efficient, until we add some hacks in.
Setting it up is not that big of a deal, it's the import that is tough... Making sure we have all the transfered info.
I do thank you for your patience!

It will be an enviromental catastrophy.... think of all those fishermen out there actually FISHING, and presumable catching FISH. quotas will go down, and slot limits will narrow.
Ifish is the environmentalist's best friend. It keeps fishermen occupied with things other THAN fishing.... and whats a fisherman like to do more than fish? TALK ABOUT FISHING!

I had thought of that, and then got busy doing something else. Fun! Just don't exagerate and put numero uno!
