Default New Canoe!

I have grown weary of repairing holes in my inflateable raft with a trolling motor. So today, I used part of my tax refund to buy a canoe, and a motor bracket for it. It's an Old Town, Guide model, 14'7" long. I figured if I didn't do it now, I'd never do it. So I did it. The kids will enjoy it.

It will be a few weeks before I can put it in the water. Anyone put a canoe in the North Santiam before? I'm looking forward to taking to the water in something a little more substantial than a raft. Of course, it's nothing fancy, but I don't need fancy. I've outfished $20,000 boats in my $100 raft before, and that's what it's all about. Anyone have any good places they like to take a canoe?

Nice work, I have the OLD TOWN Penobscot 17, and I love it. I've taken it on many lakes and the Deschutes near SunRiver and the Lewis River in Wa. You will love it and it should last forever. Joel

Your in Luck!
It just-so-happens we are doing a clean-up on the North Santiam. Parts of it I would say, until you get reallllly good with your new ride, unless you like swimming and peeling your canoe of the rocks, stay in the lower river. If you do the challenges, join in on the Clean-up. Will be lot's around, just in case, problems develop. Great cause, good people, and food at the end.
April 3rd is the date and watch the posts to come if you have interest.
Thanks, and Happy Fishn'

Yeah, I saw that Water Ready. I was considering it. I've done the short run from Fisherman's Bend to North Santiam on a 10' Sevylor raft, and I certainly think it's doable in a canoe. Is the run you're going on on the 3'rd comparable to that, or is it more technical?

We could start you at Fishermens Bend, with others. We do not all need to start at Mill City. I would love to see all of the river achieved, but only adopted from Mill City to Mehema. I am sure if you wanted to only come and do a small portion, that would be great.
You are so close and your efforts would be appreciated. Just let me know!
