Default Lower Willamette River Sturgeon - 3 Keepers!

My friend and his kids went sturgeon fishing for the first time today, and they scratched 3 keepers and a conservative guess of 80 or so shakers, some that had to be measured!

They went with another friend in his boat!

They just stopped by to show them off, and those are some nice looking sturgeon ! Sorry, no pics.

One weird thing, is that the 45 incher had what looked like a yellow coated electrical wire through it's dorsal fin, and the wire twisted together at the ends. The loop was probably about the size of a foot of wire looped together. Is this an ODFW tag of somekind? Does anyone know what this meant?

I thought I would pass along the report. I had to do some repair work on the house today, so I couldn't go.

Yes that is a tagged fish. You need to send that tag into the ODFW or WDFW and they will let you know the history of the fish. Where it was tagged, where it was feeding etc.

There is a PO Box given on the tag, its a Washington address. Just include the size of the fish, area caught, and date along with your name and address. You could also just keep it with your boat and give it to one of the fish checkers next time you get checked. Heck of a day, that's some good grub!!!!

We looked the wire over, no address or PO Box number. It was an electrical wire coated yellow.
