Default dog treats?

I just finished butchering my buck and got some big hunks of fat/trim that look like they could easily become dog treats(like the "pig ears" available in pet stores). I am wondering what to do to them? Do I smoke 'em, dry them out on a rack in the oven.....?

Any ideas would help, I have alot of people already wanting them for their dogs.

P.S. I also kept all the large long bones for some dogs too and am wondering if I should just boil off all the meat or what?

Default Re: dog treats?

You could dehydrate thin meat slices and store them in the freezer, or smoke them first before drying and freezing. Our dog loves the blood from the steaks and such. We always are concerned about giving her bones due to splintering worries, though the cartilage is always welcomed with big wags!
