Default Wickiup Fishing Report?

Will be heading up to my favorite place on earth...Wickiup Reservoir, July 17-24th. Curious to hear if anyone has had any recent success fishing for kokanie/browns. We were up there for the opener and although the fishing was a bit slow, we managed to knock out about 50 kokes, and 4 browns. Have heard that the fishing has never really taken off up there this year? Hopefully the weather will be good, and the fishing even hotter! Watch out "Herman The German (Brown)" I'm comin' after you!

We fished it for Kokanee Monday eve, tuesday and wednesday morning brought home 28 fish total for 3 rods. We were trolling and as is our usual landed about 1 out of 3 or 4 fish on, so we had pretty steady action but still wasn't red hot.

The good news is the size and condition of kokes. Out of the 28 fish we got only 1 of them was under 15" and the other 27 went 15' to 17" and were all nice fat ones. Nicest kokes I've seen come out of Wickiup in a whole lotta years

Didnt brown fish this trip but someone was weighing in a 12lb'r at south twin wednesday that was caught in the davis arm.

Good fishing to ya ................

 Hey CptCatchem it's good to here that the kokanee are larger this year. The last time that I caught that size was 7 years ago and i have been going every year the last week of July for a week for the last 8 years. I always catch lots of kokes fishing early in the morning jigging zingers it usualy takes a day to find the right color then i'm set. And i always catch some good browns the same way.
Sturgeonator I'm leaving on the 27th if you would give me a report when you get back that would maybe help me get into them sooner. Anyway GOOD LUCK

CptCatchem, thanks for the report, sounds like you faired pretty well. Yes, I have been most impressed with the kokes this year. Most of the fish we caught on the opener was in the 14-16" range. I wouldn't doubt that some of those fish could go as large as 20" at the end of the summer! Just got done smoking a big batch of them for our trip on the 17th

Texas Rig, yep I'll give you a report on the way home. Too bad you won't be up there at the same time...Take care fellas!
