Default Do some people hate SUV's?

I have a very nice 2000 ford exploreer that I use to tow my boat. Yesterday at a boat launch someone keyed the side of it!
When I use it to goto the store or other places I try to park in areas that are not near other cars. But a feel that my door's are picking up to many dings and it's not an accedent! Is it just me or is this a trind. I've had cheep cars and never had this kind of problem.

Naw, we don't need no stinkin' boat launches. We launch our manually propelled, lightweight, carryable boats anywhere we want.

Seriously, sorry about your scratches. I don't have a fondness for big SUVs, but I'd never stoop to damaging anybody's personal property.

And if I'm ever around to notice anybody doing anything like that, be sure that I'd dissuade/notify/report/whatever was appropriate.

That's the kind of bad news none of us needs when we come off the river.

I've learned to go with nondescript vehicles with white paint. They just don't seem to elicit the screwball's 'gotta key this' reflex.

Also with white paint various scrapes and dings don't show as much.

Yesterday's paper had a nice opinion piece from a fisherman basically challenging Detroit to make a SUV that meets our needs and gets better fuel mileage.

It took less than a month to acquire a deep key scratch across the back of my new yukon side to side... luckily i've used it like it was meant to be used and now the sage brush, tree, dog paw, gun, snow board, bike, tool, and rock etc... scrapes have nearly coverd it up.....

I don't own a SUV but I do have a Dodge Ram pickup that is less than 2 years old. There's a long scratch in the paint that I first noticed the day after I was at a boat launch. I put in at a single launch and there wasn't any other boat waiting to use it so I don't think I angered anyone. I suspect that someone did it on accident - maybe a fishing rod, net, or other piece of equipment that got too close. It's a bummer to take good care of your rig and find stuff like that.

As to your question about SUVs..... There are those that associate them with destroying the environment (I know my rig fits in to that category by the same folks). I hope they aren't hanging out at the boat launches!!!

That's so typical of many people who can't afford there own . It's plain jealousy, if they don't steal it they damage it! They have no respect for anything that has to been earned from actually working!

If it's not trying to stop fishing, it's just take it out on us directly. Things are only getting worse and I'm losing hope. All I want to do is fish damn it, this shouldn't be a crime.

I think some of the problem too is everytime the economy takes a dump we get mutants with nothing better to do then look for trouble because now they're not working. Probably just plain angry at life.
Some years ago fishing Eagle Creek in May was the place to be, but people were getting their rigs broke in to or vandalized. Come to find out it was the locals that didn't want people to fish up there.
I don't think it's that people don't like SUV's, I think it's people looking at a nice vehicle that is able to fish mid week and the people (mutants) that can't take it out on someone.
Just my opinion
