Saying 'goodbye' *updated* 10-29-10
Would appreciate some prayer for today. We are going to visit my dad, who is terminal with colon cancer. Mom has asked that I let him know it's okay for him to go. Please pray that I have the right words.
Thanks.

Re: Saying 'goodbye'
I am prying for you to have courage in dealing with this very hard thing, call death. My true hope in that your dad is a Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior, and he will be with the other Saints that have gone before.

Re: Saying 'goodbye'
'Sorry to ring-in so late. I hope it went well for you. I've been there way too many times in the last couple of years. Personally, I think that, when the time comes, being able to tell a loved one that everyone here will be fine and that it is alright to go is a very important and loving message. I first saw my wife (a very experienced RN -- mostly geriatric and some hospice) do that for my grandfather. He was fighting to stay. His time had come. She let him know we are all here we are all fine and it is okay for him to go and be with Grandma. He was in a light coma but he got the message. He relaxed, took two more breaths and he was gone. I have loved her and thanked her so many times for doing that for him. Don

Re: Saying 'goodbye'
I'm so sorry to be so late on this, too. I can only hope I do well at this, when the time comes. IT is nearer and nearer all the time, but man... what a tough thing to do.
My prayers are with you, still.

Re: Saying 'goodbye' *updated* 10-29-10
Thank you all for your prayers. My dad passed away yesterday. He is no longer in pain, and we know that we will see him again someday. He lived 4 yrs. past his initial diagnosis of colon cancer, and during that time the last 3 of his 6 grandchildren were born. He went through all those horrible treatments for my brother and I, and our kids. He was a very giving person, and this was the greatest gift he ever gave us.

Re: Saying 'goodbye' *updated* 10-29-10
So sorry to hear of your loss. From what I can glean, I think you were a very, very good daughter. Your dad must have, at the very least, left this world knowing he did his "family" job well. No words we can say can bring comfort to you at this time but, having gone thru the same, in time...the pain of the loss lessens and the great memories replaces it.

I'm so sorry. That's all I have to say about that. There are no words. I'm just so sorry. Hugs.
