Default I just can\'t wait

I can't wait for the Deschutes river at the mouth to start happening. One of my favorite fisheries. The smell of sage brush, the hot sun tanning our rusted bodies and watching the tip of your rod touch the water as a freight train steelhead smashes your wigglewart. I'm going up to the mouth this coming tuesday in hope of experiencing this once again.

leatherneck,
This is by far one of my greatest trips. Thanks to you for enlightening me to this fishery.

Ha! Without even reading your post, I knew when I read your title, "I can't wait....", that it HAD TO BE ABOUT THE DESCHUTES!

I'm of the type that like to walk or ride my bike up one of the trails and hit the river with spinners for the better part of a day. I just can't wait for a Deschutes steelie to slam my lure! Nothing compares.......

Best of luck! I'll hit the river tomorrow and be sure to post my results.

i too prefer to head upriver now, it just seems like the last couple years the mouth has been a zoo. At times the fishing can warrant the crowd but lately I've had bad timing out there and just got wind, crossed lines and an occasional steelie. This being said, I'm dying to get up there as well and I don't care whether I'm in the sled at the mouth, in the sled up the river, or on 2 wheels upriver.
