Default wrapped or not?

I am going to try to for steelhead and I am going to use either a flatfish or kwikfish but I am not sure if I should wrap the lure with sardine or just leave it blank? What would a guy do!

Hi 'yote!
Don't bother with a wrap. Use smaller flatfish in the f-7, x-4, x-5, even u-20 range. Just make sure they are wrapped in flo-red paint!!!

Yup, no need to wrap. I'm partial to the f-7 in the summer, which just hammers them.

I agree . . . except . . .

I think this year I'm going to try a bit of scent as well.

The last couple of times I plunked the Columbia for summer runs, the guys adding prawn tails or similar to their Spin-n-glos sure seemed to be doing a ton better than those without.

Is it possible to plunk a flatfish from the bank? If so how do you rig it so it doesn't beat itself on the bottom? I have heard so many great stories about this lure but am watercraft challenged, just wondering if I can thump em on the head from the bank too? Thanks for any help.

What i used to do when I was "WaterCraft Challenged", is use two spin glos spread apart, and then tie another swivel 30" above that. Then use a locking snap and put a flatfish on a 24" leader. After casting out your gear, and setting it in the rod holder, attach the slider to your main line and work it down to get it started. Then the current can finish the job. It stops right at the upper swivel, and should be high enough up so that it doesn't bang the bottom.
