Default Registration to ifish is now closed

We are closing new registration to ifish, as we prepare to move to Threads, today, March 13th, 2004. We want a clean move.

It's going to be a heck of a week, I'm sure.

I am prepared for an onslaught of numerous whining and complaining from members.

I am prepared for me being lost and whining and complaining, also.

I will form a team of ifishers that are familiar with Threads, and post a post at the top of the board, with their contact info, for questions.

Please, while you are at it, log off of ifish... Go to the login page, and find the lost password function.

Fill out the e mail that you registered with, and have the program send you your password, if you do not have it handy.

YOU WILL NEED IT TO LOG IN TO THREADS!

Most people are auto logged in, and have no idea.

Another option is while you are logged in, go to PROFILE, then EDIT UPDATE PROFILE, and change your password to something you can remember.

HINT: WRITE IT DOWN!

OK, that's your Threads lesson for today! We will be having daily Threads lessons on the top of the board. Daily helpful hints to help you to understand how things work, and the wonderful extra options at your disposal. This really is a neat program. I highly recommend that you read the daily tips. (And I will, too!)

Jen

Hey... where is the rest of my team? Do I have one? COOL! Where are they?

Pete is helping me check things out, and I have showed a couple of the ifishers what it looks like.

I'm really the only one who knows how to change all the templates, the headers, the footers, the groups, the... yada yada everything stuff.
Actually, truth is, no one else knows what I am doing, and frankly, I don't know either!

Just get in there and push some buttons and see what they do! LOL!

I have three paid people helping me, but they are very hard to get a hold of!

Anyhow, it will all work out. I'm a little frazzled about it, but I've just got to have a "what the heck" attitude. Right?

Actually, at this time, I find it imperative that I thank the moderators at ifish.

I have not read HALF of the threads, nor moderated nearly as much as usual.

They have been absolutely awesome, while I work and fret on Threads.

Hats off to them. They are my team! In fact, without them, I couldn't be doing what I am doing at all!

So, maybe instead of thanking me, thank them. They do tons of work, without any thanks, and many times with much flack.

Please, please, do something nice for your moderator today!!!

Jen

Yep, the mod's on ifish do a great job and I keep them working overtime. :depressed:
Thanks and sorry!

Maybe I will get them all together this fall on a guided trip on the Cow fishing that fabulous coho run I think we are going to have.

That includes you too Jen for doing an awesome job yourself.

24 on - registration was suspended earlier this afternoon when Jennie posted it about 3:45 PM. It takes a couple days for people to filter through the system. We want to clean up the registration process so we don't have people that are approved on one board, but not on the other, so the new registration suspension is just to give things time to settle. After the move to the next board, registration will open up again. I don't think Jennie knows yet exactly when the move will happen, but I'm certain she will let people know in plenty of time.

In the mean time, make sure you have your login and password written down so you won't have trouble logging on after the move, OK?

Right on, Pete.

I was referring to threads, anyway. I can't wait for them. 90% of the boards I visit use them and I think its a good thng for ifish.

Oh no!! I just checked my profile and saw that my e-mail address is no longer any good. I guess this isn't a good time to change it, huh?

This would be an excellent time to make sure your e-mail address is correct.

Mod addies will always be front and center, no matter what board.
Please, if we are down longer than you can stand, take a minute to go to the "other boards".

My favorties:

http://www.steelheader.net
and
http://www.piscatorialpursuits.com

While we are down, I'll probably link those on my "sorry we are down" page.

They are kind of "sister" or "brother" sites to ifish.

OK. My chores are all done and I am ready for the switch.

(Oh this is going to be so fun for Jennie!)

One feature I love is that Jennie can put someone on restriction. They can post, but not until it's been read and approved by a Mod.

I think that's a hack, Aunty, but I'm not sure. If so, I'll add it along the lines, somewhere.

Anyhow, several people are confused. Join the club.
I will answer e mails publicly. I just got this one:

Quote:
Jen,
I don't understand what I'm supposed to do, other than sign off. Do I need to sign off at work, too? I can go in today and do that...Once I'm off, am I coming back on something else? How?
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">First off, the date has not been sent, and I'm having trouble communicating with the guy who is doing it. He won't even answer my e mail. :depressed:

So... here is the answer, I sent:

Quote:
No. Don't sign off at all. You won't need to.
When it happens, which I haven't heard yet, it will all be alright!
Here is what to expect.
Do not sign off on any computer.
When you go to ifish (sometime in the next week, probably...) when you click on the board, you will get a message like the other night, when I turned it off. It will say that we are doing maintenance, or something, but that we are currently down, or unavailable.
When we get ready to open the new board, (several hours after being down) we will change the "maintenance" message to a link to the new board, or, it will automatically redirect you to the new board.
Hopefully, you will already be logged in.
If not, you'll need your user name and password from the old ifish, to log into the new.
If by chance you didn't get a copy before the move, you are still not lost!
There will be an option ON the login page to retrieve your password.
All you have to do there, is to fill in the e mail address that you registered on ifish with, and hit send. The program will send you your information, promptly.
Please do not write to me or ifish to get your password, as we do not have access to it.
On UBB Classic, which we are on now, we do have access. This new program is more secure and we cannot read your encrypted password.
It may be necessary to clear your cache and your cookies, in order to log in to the new ifish bulletin board. I hope not, but I had to!
Anyhow, I'm going to post this to the board, because I'm sure you aren't the only one experiencing confusion.
I know that I am!

Good day-
Jen

I think she meant "bored," Bill.

There's only one board on my computer!

Way to go, Jen. The rest of the mods and I have a pretty good idea how hard you've worked on this move, and the stress it's been. I hope all that prep work pays off with a smooooooth transition.

Skein,
Are you trying to nicely say how grouchy, reactive and emotional I've been? I know a word for that, but I won't say it here.
