Default North Santiam 3 fish still?

I am going to be fishing the north Santiam tomorrow and was just thinking if by chance I really get into the fish can I still keep 3 Steelhead? I cant remember if it was June 11 or July 11 that it goes back to the 2 fish limit.

I fished it today with my Father and caught a nice #10 buck so Im going to give it another shot tomorrow. Thanx for your help.

Jon

It's been my favorite early summer river since the early '80's. Good luck I know there are lots of fish hiding up there  . Maybe we can meet up there some day soon.

Well, we decided on just a couple holes yesterday. Didn't move around a lot this time.
We ended up with 5 fish for 2 rods! All rerun hatchery summers.

k9jeff

The key to catching these rerun fish is either a plug that will make em mad or something very small like a tiny corkie or just a red or pink bead and yarn.

I tried alot of different things before finally going to the beads and yarn. I could watch these fish follow my setup in but not hit it MANY times so I went a little smaller and that was the key yesterday.

I was on the bridge when they dumped these rerun fish. I watched them scatter all across the river. I didn't think they would hit anything right out of the truck like that and with all the people trying to just rip the hooks into the fish it was a sad site at first. The next thing I know Im watching this nice bout 10 LB summer come across the river where this kid is throwing a bobber and jig setup. The fish sets up behind his jig as it comes closer the fish it rises up and absolutely INHALED his jig! This was not 5 minutes out of the truck! Thats when I decided to go down and do a little experimenting on what they would hit and what the wouldn't. I ended up with 2 for myself 3 for my cousin and I handed off 5 others to people that were actually trying to get these fish to bite bait and not just trying to SNAG them wherever their hook hit. They were all but one hooked INSIDE the mouth. The other one was hooked from the outside in but still in the mouth. The first one I kept was hooked so deep I couldn't throw it back because it was hooked down deep in the gills.

I know alot of people here dont like the idea of catching these fish right out of the truck like that but they were biteing if you were useing the right setup. I would not set the hook until I felt their head shake. I lost alot of fish but I would rather loose them all than foul hook them.

From what I heard all of this was video taped also so the people that were snagging will get whats comming to them I hope!
