Default soaking smelt

I heard something today that I don't know if true or not so I thought about asking you experts. This guy said he soaks his smelt in a brine of salt garlic and shrimp oil and this will out fish straight smelt anyday. What do you guys say?? [img]graemlins/1zhelp.gif[/img]

I'm no expert but a week or two ago fresh outfished brined for us ... I was thinking maybe the brine leached oils from the smelt or ??? Anyone else ???

If you ask the guides,some swear by scents others swear they use only straight smelt.My $.02

If it is fresh (Dipped the same day)it will out fish smelt with scent on it IMO
