Default ODFW Meeting TODAY

Public meeting being held at Garibaldi City Hall 1-4pm TODAY. Topic: draft of near-shore management plan. Can anyone make it? I'm stuck at work! We need representation. You know that the commercials will be there. I'd heard that a handfull of charters will, too...

I'm curious, how did you learn of this hearing? It isn't posted on the ODFW web site, as far as I can tell. Nor did I receive an e-mail notice, as I do for most events. There must be some other notification channel I am not aware of.

I believe that it was supposed to be on commercial fishing only. Many times people are only on a notification list for recreational fishing issues and they don't get commercial meeting notices. If this is not the case, might they only send the notice out regionally for what is considered a regional meeting?

Janice indicated that it was intended for commercial fishers to have their say, but a public meeting is a public meeting and all should be notified as far as my logic goes.

She further indicated that it was mentioned of page 6 of the interim nearshore management plan. I looked at my copy and did not note it. So I'm a little confused.

Watch this board and Salty Dogs for more information coming about ODFW meetings. Mark your calendar for 7/12 and 8/9. The goal? To be visible and recognized as an industry such as the commercials are. We have a larger impact on the economy than anyone realizes. It is time to unite and be heard.
