40hp kicker

Yep, folks. You heard me right. This boat has a 40hp kicker motor and they were trolling along just fine without socks out. Spotted it at the head of the MC today.


Now for the report: sloooow. We fished the head of the MC and around the Columbia from 6:15 to about 11. Watched a little girl, maybe 8 or 9 years old, land a nice clipped 20#er and saw a few others, both hatchery well bonked and natives well released. LOTS of boats out for sturgeon, which mostly appeared to be a shaker game. The lot at Cathedral was PACKED. When I left, there were rigs parked up the sides of the street and on side streets as well.

I have a 40 horse on my 16 footer and i use it at the Nehalem jaws all the time. I have a large Happy Troller attached but only use it in the lakes. Mine is an Evinrude and runs very slow and very quiet. They are pushing a lot of boat with that motor.

Yep, I've seen that boat up close out by Davis Bar. That boat is a beast.
