Prayer for baby Makayla

A friends 2 1/2 year old, Makayla, was taken to the hospital tuesday with what the parents thought was the flu. She was diagnosed with kidney failure caused possibly by ecoli, and transferred to Dornbecker for kidney dialysis. Yesterday some complications developed which required surgery, and now she is sedated and on a ventilator. The poor little thing has just had one complication after another, and its creating a very tough road.

Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, healing for Makayla, and strength for the parents.

Went to the hospital today to visit Makayla. She continues to run a fever which they have not been able to determine the cause of. Also, she has yet to urinate, indicating the kidneys are still not functioning. She is being a trooper with all the poking and proding, but really needs to show some progress. Mom and dad greatly appreciate all the prayers, but are getting very tired. Thanks for the prayers, and your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Had that happen 32 years ago with my daughter Jodi. Ended up being Reyes Syndrome. She made it after 30 days in the hospital and is the mother of two of my Grandchildren. Prayers to all especially Makayla

Makayla is doing better, but still facing challenges. The kidneys appear to be starting to work, as she passed urine twice yesterday. The main complication now is that she has developed a staph infection in the PIC line, and they have started antibiotics for that infection. They would like to remove the line, but she is still vomiting most everything she eats, so her primary nutrition is coming through the line. They would change the line, but they had a very difficult time getting it established. Thus her parents are asking for prayer that her kidneys continue to progress, that the infection doesnt spread, and that she can keep food down.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated - please continue to pray for this little girl and her parents!

Our oldest daughter had HUS caused from E-coli when she was 10 years old. She was in the hospital for 17 days, 4 days in ICU, 6 times on kidney dialysis, 6 blood transfusions, 2 bags of platelets, pnumonia....It was a lot at the time. We went thru it all. Our daughter had the BEST doctor out there...Dr Jenkins...and she is fine to this day with no side effects. She is now 17 years old. You have to wait for it to run its course. Prayers coming to you.....

I know how hard that can be as a parent. We were in your shoes in 98 when our 2 1/2 week old required life saving surgery on Christmas day

Update on Makayla - she came home last week, and is doing great. She has just been taken off the high blood pressure medication, but continues on several others. Thanks everyone for there prayers!

This same thing just happen to my bosses boy he just came home last week they probably were in the hospital at the same time. They did say there were other kids in there with the same thing wow glad everything is better now

I have read through a lot of threads on here. I must say this one is the best outcome of all of them. No one could have a dry eye reading it. I am so glad for her parents. God bless...
