Hillsboro area summer roll call
Well, it looks like it's that time of the year again.
Suggest Saturday July 13th 6:00 PM at the Corn Pass Road House again. Worked well last year.
Anyone have the time to act as the organizer and help put this together?
How about haveing a smoked salmon contest. Couple of bucks to enter and top two winners get their share of the night paid for with the entry fees? Limit it to 12 entries at $2 each, bring 4 med size pieces. Ok, heres the tough question, anybody want to volenteer to be one of the judges? I know, tough duty and all, but look, someone has to do it. I think the judging should be the reward for anybody that steps up and helps organize this fun event.

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
Aw yes..for some..it's such a good time they may forget!!
I like the idea of a "Salmon Smoke-Off"...thought it would be a good thing to have i the Nov-Dec. time slot.
Fishalot......since I spend all my employed hours in Hillsboro....can I come?? I'll even bring some smoked salmon of my own!!

Tell me some more. This sounds interesting. Are you truely smoking or are we talking slow cooked over the coals?

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
badnews12 - These guys are truely smoking fish and no, it is not just slow cooking over coals.
Thick slab chinook chunks can take up to 24 hours to smoke. If you have not experienced smoked salmon you have missed out on one of the northwest's bests.
Try a search for smoked salmon and you will find all you need to know. E-mail me if you haven't found the search feature at ifish yet.

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
July 13th works for me. Microbrew and good food and company, who can pass that up? My suggestion is we not make reservations like last time. The mandatory 15% gratuity=poor service. It was great fun though. I suggest we just show up and commendeer an area outside in a corner area. I'll be there an know of a few other ifishers who want to also.

Fishbait,
Is this invite only, just ifishers, or what?
It sounds like a neat get together and it's right down the road from me.
Thought I should check before crashing the party!

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
I'll try to make it to this one.It sure sounded like a doozy last year. I heard there were emu's with pink can-can outfits dancing around, table dances by some one significant on this board and more.
If I can make it, I will let you know by the 1st. I have to get a kitchen pass.
What time in the day are you meeting? It sounds as if some ifishers are going to fish the morning first.
What is the criteria to be one of the judges for the smoked ambrosia?
I would be very much willing to judge if possible. Thanks for the invite. cheers: Tom

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
Cohodependent, you are on for help putting this together. Will you please get some name tags and a couple of sharpies (bring the bill and I will take up a collection to get you paid back) E-mail me to tell me if you'll do this please. Rubber Robin, I am HHS class of 73, sorry to hear it happened a year early for you
Need 3 - 5 volenteers to judge the smoked salmon contest. Need the first enrtent to start a seprate post of this, bring 3-5 pieces of your somked fish. Judges e-mail directly me if you are interested.
For those females that want to be in the spinner club this year, Bait of Eggs will be holding tryouts again this year the weekend before the party. Please contact him directly to arranage tryouts. We are only allowing 8 this year as this makes the prizes and cash donations a little more substancial (sp) for those who make the cut. $$$$  $$ Oh, what great fun will be had by all, if not already............ See you there.... Steve

Hey there Fishbait and all of you other west side I-Fishers. I was just reminded by my not so significant other, not so gently mind you, that I have an other commitment that weekend so I will be out of town. I have aquired the name tags and the sharpies. Who would like to hook up with me so I can pass them on for the get togeather. I live in Beaverton and work in Hillsoboro near on Cornell near Intel. I am in class on Tuesday and Thursday but am open any other evening.
I hope that every one got into fish this weekend.

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
Kevin,
Assume you have name tags handled. Thanks Andrew, we'll miss you.
Thanks Rubber Robin for the prizes for the contest.......
Bait-O-Eggs....... Received your e-mail about having 9 contestants for the wet/no T-shirt contest. Ya know, this is a public event and there will be kids there, so might want to tone it down.
As far as your second event, I really doubt you will find many people interested in your emu calling contet, but you are sure free to try. I know how hard you have been practicing.
Lastly, I'm not sure, but I do not think the Road House servs Blitz beer, mostly microbrews and yes they will have booster chairs...............
Hope to see some old friends and make some new ones..... See you there........... Steve

Steve Why do you make up tales about me like you do with your personal fish catching stories.
I hope a mosquito the size of your ego gets ahold of your wide load and has a big dinner.
I know you wanted to enter the wet shirt contest but I am telling you again, your not going to win with the crowd that is showing up.

I'm going to try to be there but I doubt I'll have as much fun as I did last year as it looks like I'll have to leave and go to work.
Hey, I might have time to judge the smoked fish contest  .
Later,

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
Mr. Fisherman: You're the man for the job! Although I'm not sure John and I will qualify since it was proposed as a smoked salmon contest... And we're buddies... although I'm sure you could be completely unbiased! We'll let those in charge decide whether we can officially enter smoked tuna
At any rate, we will bring the treats. Mmmm... I get to smell the smoker all night again
See you tomorrow!

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
So whats that they say about the best laid plans of mice and men?......... Something unforseen just came up that will prevent me from attending the party............ :depressed: So, Someone elde will have to pick the judges for the smoked salmon and without my premimun preminum there the competation should be easier. If someone will post the results, top three, I will see to it the the prizes get to the winners. I hope all have a wonderful time. I'm disappointed that I will miss all the fun..........

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
I hope you guys have a great time!
I always feel so darned left out. :depressed:
I have to get up early and play for church, can't drive at night, and am dead tired from fishing today.
Have a great time, and don't eat too much smoked salmon!
Drive careful too, OK? If you drink, DON'T DRIVE!
(Sorry, just had too! I love you all too much!)

Re: Hillsboro area summer roll call
Sooooooooooo, how was the get together? Who gets the prizes?
I was really bummed not being able to attend, but I believe I did make the right decision. With all the trips I have planned in the next 3 months, not willing to suffer the domestic abuse that I would have had to endure.
But I did consider it for a little bit!
