The reason I post this is because I hear people (and I use to to do the same) complain about gillnets and the way it should be or the way it use to be.

Post by Blue Tip Spinner:
"still sick to my stomach... forget it... i'm gonna give up fishin and take up golf, that is until the commercial golf ballers come in and tell me i can't golf the hole they are in because the state says so...

how successful have we (the sportfishers) ever been in getting what we want when it comes to commercial vs. sportfishers? if you check, i'm fairly new to the board (been here for less than a year) and i really can't say that i have seen them yeild to us in any way. they raised our fees to do what we love, they gave the commercial guys the time they wanted, they increased their fishing times from 16 to 24 hours without letting us know, they didn't include a buffer between the 60-40 split that some ifishers had hoped, and who knows if they will honor the 60-40 split this year (they sure didn't last year). what do we have to do to get heard? writing letters doesn't seem to help and complaining to each other isn't getting us anywhere. what are we supposed to do? the only thing i can think of is hurt them where it counts, the pocketbook. then i have to give up something that i love with my whole heart."

This is an example of how we all get frustrated, no intention to flame BTS just another guy who sounds frustrated as I am....

I use to work for Larry's Sports Center and then another outfit that took over after Larry's went away...I would hear all kinds of complaints and would usually chime in... But does that get anything accomplished...NOPE!

IFISH is a great place to get organized////So let's show this state and anyone who will listen what we care about...fishing... and what fishing entails...friends,family,stress relief, good eats!!!

If you go to the public meetings, which most folks do not! Gillnetters DO!! Go and be active and write the folks Pete and Dave Vedder have mentioned in previous posts GO and BE ACTIVE We all have computers it's easy to generate letters...I have and it Will make a difference

As an example of how I see it...I hear complaints, but see no action... DJ and I along with at least 4 IFISH'ers were at the compact meeting in Oregon City...We were outnumbered at least 4 to 1 by the netters...Come on!!! We have thousands of sportsmen/women out here!!! We should have packed that room EASILY I heard 6 of my friends say, "Yeah, I'll be there." Only DJ and one other showed! Where are all the guides??? I heard a well known greatly outspoken person say, "They are at the Sportsman Show" Come on, is swillin suds and BS'ing more important than a compact meeting where a lot of important decisions were made.

CAN NOT COMPLAIN unless YOU have actually put forth an EFFORT!!!

IFISH is an Awesome place for organization let's get organized...no more little groups

FISH ON!
