Ifish Newbie story
So I've been looking on the site for awhile and it's time to jump on to ship with my story. We'll I'm a 25 year old young buck that loves to fish. My parents tell me that my first word ever was fish. I do believe them. I would fish for trout as a kid, but got into salmon and steelhead about 5 years ago with no success. I sucked. Wrong time, on the wrong water with the wrong gear was me fishing. Need less to say I had no mentor and no luck. A friend's dad took me out on the Sandy on day a few years ago and he got a couple, but showed me some good spots and I came back to get my first ever steelhead. Will never forget that one. It was a native and then later that spring I got my first salmon. From then on my fishing numbers have increased, but I still have a long ways to go, but I love it. I still have yet to catch a sturgon though. I'm now looking into buying a sled. I've looked all over at what I want, but am just not sure. So for who may beable to help I was at the boat show earlier today and was very much interested in the motion marine open sled. Anybody that would have any input on the boat, but mostly the sport jet (such as reliability, how it does in salt water, anything) would be greatly appreciated. I have to order soon to get it by Fall chinook season. So that's my story and i"m sticking to it
Noff fishing, but real name is Greg

Re: Ifish Newbie story
Picking one sled over another is a tough decision.
If I were to add my two cents, which I plan to, I might consider a boat made in the southern part of Oregon. Sportjets appear to be very reliable.
(NR)
Welcome Aboard!!!

Re: Ifish Newbie story
Welcome Noff! I too had to release my first steelie! The old timer that I was fishing beside that day told me that I shouldent' be dissapointed about letting that fish go. He said "If a person releases their first steelhead he will bring good luck (fishing) for the rest of his life". That man couldnt have been more right!
Welcome to ifish!

Re: Ifish Newbie story
Welcome aboard . Ask ten people about what sled to buy and you will get eight different answer . The good news is you will learn things about the different sleds and be able to make a wise choice as to the one that will best fit your needs . Goog luck and doin!t be in a big rush to buy . It will be a lot of money to spend . I would carry a notebooh with me and make notes about every sled that i would fish out of . Try to go to some of the more popular boat ramps in the afternoon and ask the captain what do you like about your boat ? Then you might ask them what they would do different in there next boat to make it work more efficently ?I hope that this will help . If there is any else that i can help with drop me an e-mail .AT THE BOTTOM OF THESE POSTS on the left hand side put your arrow from your cursor on the envelop and you will find the e-mail address and i will get back to with my phone number . Good luck and doin!t get in a hurry .

What rivers do you fish? I am 30 so we are closer in age. Maybe we could get together some time and kill a fish or two
