Default Bull Trout

Went over to the Dechutes today with my wife and fishingurl. The cadis hatch was in full swing. The wind was blowing , the water was down about a foot from last Saturday, did not use a fly pitched rooster tails with my daughter(fishingurl) got 1 redside about 18" and one other trout WHICH this post is about. By looking at the snyps. it was a bull trout, odd thing is that it was a fin cliped fish about 9" (adipose fin missing).. In all the years that I have fished the big D I have never caught a bull trout in this section of the river.. I was just above dutchmans flat(harphin flat) above Maupin.. Was this a planted fish  I thought that all the fish in this section were all nate's, anyone have a thought on this???

Yes, there are a few Bull trout in the Lower D.

However, I doubt there is any kind of a stocking program going on with them as they are a protected fish.

I'm not sure what you got hold of.

As others have said, Bull Trout are occassionally caught in the Deschutes below the dams. Often in the vicinity of the cooler tribs coming in from the Res. side of the river.

In the past, Bull Trout tagging has consisted of numbered spaghetti tags in the dorsal fin.

You might email the PGE biologist at Pelton or the Tribe's fishery folks to see if there's any new marking program going on.

The fish I caught that I said looked like a Bull Trout Matches the picture of a Bull Trout in the SNYP. (fishing rules and Regs) of the State of Oregon. But it was missing the adipose fin, no dought about it.
