Default 9-11

Take a moment today to remember those lost on 911 and those that are fighting for our freedom.

yes, we in the USA should never forget, should honor, all of those who sacrificed to found, nurture, and protect our unique country. i, as a former combat veteran, am not unfamiliar with the military and the sacrifices of war. i am, however, concerned when people loosely throw around the notion that there are currently people "fighting for our freedom". we ARE free, we have to overcome no enemy to secure our "freedom". there are war fronts of choice we are involved in yes, but our freedom does not hinge on them. regards, t b k kai

How about we just remember the many who have left their families by their own choice and beliefs, or by the hands of those who would go to any lengths to harm the helpless to further their own.

Thank you for your service! Those words can only come from a veteran. I have the utmost respect for you and your honesty.

I am not going to use your words to springboard into controversial comments, but I do know that I view the Iraq war as a war of choice and it breaks my heart for each and every person in uniform and their families. It did not make me free. I am unsure what our mission has morphed into in Afghanistan, the longest war this country has ever known. As someone put it today....."I wish we were rebuilding Kansas City rather than Kandahar. I would love to see OBL dead. That would speak to our freedom. I care about the Afghani's, but we cannot nor should not seek to fix their country at the horrible expense of our nations most precious assets. I'm sorry if I upset anyone. It upset folks in '68' too.
