Launching the drifter in the early moring dew, I said to my buddy "today could be productive." March typically isn't my favorite month to be on one of SW Washington's premier rivers, but you just never know! As we gear up I notice a hot new tadpolly plug that my buddy had in his hand, he looks at me and said "this baby will be DEADLY." I shook my head and said "Oh you know it." On the rod the new Tadpolly goes and off we go down the first chute. I start a pumpin' on the sticks, out 60' or so the plugs go. Slowly we creep down the river, slightly sweeping the lures around rocks back and forth, side to side. Coming up on some heavy fast water I say get ready to crank in those babys and the "BAM BAM BAM" down the rod goes. Line is rippin' and my buddy reaches for the rod and with a sweeping hookset, "FISH ON". This was an epic battle of Man Vs Nature. I row us over to some "Frog Water" and the fish still hasn't shown himself. Then all of a sudden came the acrobatics that only the strongest of natives can perform this little Sea-Run Rainbow comes to the shore!
This beauty was bulging in all the right places  One squeeze of the belly and something odd popped out!

We couldn't explain it!
Off to the next hole we go! After running some diver and bait through a Classic hole, nearing a tail out the rod does another dance! Befor you know it "FISH OFF" and "SHRIMP OFF." We rebait and row back up for another pass. Halfway back up the the top of the hole, my buddy notices he didn't reel up the second rod and low and behold "FISH ON" Trolling upstream! He immediatley hands me the rod, as it is my turn to battle a bruiser. This one was not such an epic battle, No flips, No flops, but what a day to get some chromers!
