This one's for you Jerry! And the handful of others. BigShark and I were there about 9 hours and I will say that I was really impressed with the commissioners. (My 2 cents worth--- A woman's viewpoint)
There is no question Lindsey and Co listened
to what has been said at the Tillamook meeting. Lindsey Ball summarized the steps
they went through for the past few months and also shared the numbers of concerned
people (303+) at the T. meeting. I think Salem had the other big number but only about 80.
Big Shark and I have a strong feeling for the caretaking of our fish and wildlife.....
The fishing at the coast as well as hoping that
clamming is here for the future.
I saw a very concerned board pick up on information that I do not think they were aware of. I think this was a great learning session for them even though they might not like to hear that. I would like to hear others'
reactions to the commissioners' reactions to the NW Power Planning Commission and their directives.
Anyway, it was really enlightening to see this group interested in what
the "people" have to say. There were a number of reference to email, statements, and
the wants of the community people.
They were very free about allowing time for unscheduled testimony.
Well....it looks as if it is going to rain on our Rose Parade and perhaps set a new low temperature record. Have a great weekend.

Hey Jerry, I was there from 8:10am to 5:20pm. Went back to the museum for an hour during the lunch break and the annual staff recognition awards. I sat behind Kelly from the Humane Society on the right side of the room. Next time I’ll introduce myself to ya.

BigShark, were you there with your wife and sitting in front of Jerry? As I re-read these posts is your wife posh II?

Posh II, The commissioners seemed to be concerned with how the NWPPC, or whoever they were, was organizing whatever it was they were doing. Seemed like later they understood but thought they could organized it better. A lot of process and expectations being requested of ODFW by NWPPC or ? and that concerned them....I think During parts of the meeting I was working on my own work stuff and not paying complete attention.

Jerry got high praise from Lindsay Ball and the Commissioners for his efforts in Tillamook. I couldn't help but think that Director Ball was blushing a little when Jerry related the Director's kidney stone problems just prior to the Tillamook mtg. So it sounds like the new "quotable " number of attendees at Tillamook is 400. Also, I'd like to say I was proud of Ifishers and Tillamook folks when they read the attendance numbers for the other EBAC (external budget advisory committee) meetings around the state. They were all in the 30 to 60 or so range except when it came to Tillamook. All of the Commissioners took notice and were impressed. I would guess it was a popular topic amongst ODFW staff. You did good

See you all in Salem.
