What happened at the ODFW meeting today?

Jerry was nice enough to tough it out all day and he is the one to give the recap. There were many informative presentations and he will give the good and the not-so-good details of the day. I will say this however, it was the first ODFW meeting I have ever been to that commissioners went around introducing themselves and asking what your interests are. Has someone sent a message???????????

So where were you sitting? I was sitting between Dogfishboy and Pete and was trying not to burst into a rebel cheer when Mr. Alula announced the July 1st date for meeting the SB 339 requirements (no SS# required for children under 14 when buying tags�) :shocked:

I was down in the front area. I'm the old geeze they all glared at when I applaued the Chairman for saying it didn't sound like the highest economic value they could get out of razor clams when 200 of the 240 or 250commercial diggers were selling them for crabbait............................. I just couldn't help it!

***, My main interest is in the funding of the hatcheries, not so much in the short term but in looking at the long term. There will be a new Govenor elected soon and, as in most campaigns, the candidates will give alot of lip service at this point. With the current budget shortfall at the current level, some tough decisions will be made that will, without doubt effect many. I am optimistic at best that the fishery issue will remain a hot topic in the leglastative sessions, it's just to easy of a target.

I read the report put up by Jen which sounds very encouraging but is a "proposal" at this point. A new govenor brings a new administration and wishfully I hope they are proactive and in tune with the supporters of the proposal. Only time will tell.

Thanks for the update and I will certainly be investigating and tracking the developments.

I don't know if any one read my comments at l0.30 last night, I was tired and had 3 drinks and was not to nice about not many showing up for the meeting. If i hurt any bodys feelings, well I don't apologize, you should have been there to help. I hope we can get you all to Salem. I think the session will start Wed.

First, your comments last night may not have offended many people. With your legendary spelling and thorough grasp of grammatical correctness I do not see why anyone would understand a word you say especially after 3 drinks� :grin:

Second, when you first posted regarding the Commission meeting you asked everyone to be there on June the 6th. As this meeting occurred on the 7th perhaps everyone who listened to you showed up on Thursday? :grin:

Hey *** your right my spelling is BAD! So is my grammer. My wife tells me I type faster than I think. I sometines get so wraped up in what I am talking about that I don"t give a s--t about spelling or how it sounds. Sorry , try not to hold that against me.
