Default mouth of clack and navigation

ok I asked this once in another area but no response.
I want to fish the lower clack this weekend, but I have never run the river from the mouth upstream. How far can I get my boat ( im not insane)? I have fished it upstream many times, but was thinking about down below. I also dont want to fight the Oregon City crowds unless I have to....
oh yea,,, i have an 18 foot flat bottom sled with a 115 jet on it,
thanks in advance

K9Jeff,

If you wish to fish the lower river you should launch at OC and run up river. If you plan to fish from say Carver to Riverside I would launch at either Riverside or Carver. The river is high enough that yu can run a very long ways upriver. I would decide where you want to fish and launch close to that area..

K9Jeff, with that boat and the current water levels you should be able to run all the way to lower McIver Park if you know who to read the water. If you put in at Riverside Park you'll avoid a lot of bank anglers between High Rocks and the mouth.

K9,

Sunless is right. There is plenty of water in the Clack (most years it is a VERY iffy trip to start from the mouth by early June), but you would be better luanching from Riverside park. There are a few spots to fish from the mouth up to Riverside, but there are many anglers and partiers that interfere with boat fishing in the lowest stretch.

Also, if you have never done it the boiling water through High Rocks is a bit of a challenge because the trip usually needs to be taken at slow speed due to bankies and other boats. The river can literally spin you in 180's there.

There is much fishy looking water at and upstream from Riverside and it has few trouble spots around it.

One thing, there are automatic gates there that don't open until 6? (I think) Do not go there at O'Darkthirty or you will be cooking breakfast in the back of your rig!

Good luck!
