Want to help?
I helped two years at the Nedonna pond event, and it was a blast!
There are two kid's fishing events to be held in Tillamook, with stocked
trout funded by the Legislature that will take place in the next couple of
months and we are looking for volunteers to help kids catch fish. STEP will
provide equipment.
The first is at Nedonna Pond, north of Rockaway (near the school on Hwy 101)
on April 10th. The second is at Vernonia Pond, off the main Nehalem River,
near Hwy 26 on May 1st.
They can sure use some Steelheader help and it should be a lot of fun.
Please contact Tracy Holton at 503-842-2741 if your chapters can provide any
help.
Thanks.
Norman E. Ritchie, President
Association of Northwest Steelheaders

Re: Want to help?
I'm all over this one Jen, I'd love to help the kids catch fish. Having done the OFC event at camp angelo in the past, it was such a great time.
I don't know who had more fun, me or the kids.
Count me in for april 10th. I'll put it on the calendar.

Re: Want to help?
Jen. Tillamook Anglers would like to help, but that is the same day as our annual fin clipping at Whiskey Creek. We need to try to get together on these dates. Our fishing day for kids with disabilities at Whiskey Creek is Sep. 11th. We need to work with Tracy Holton. Who by the way is doing a great job. Thanks, Jerry

Re: Want to help?
I THINK the hatchery people brought the rods. We used worms, I think, and Power Bait. Don't know who supplies it, really.
When I did it, we just showed up, (ate a doughnut or two!) and then wandered around, kind of adopting kids that show up. Help them rig up, cast, and (OOPS! DID I REEL THAT FISH IN FOR YOU?) I'm kidding!
No, it's very casual, and a blast, actually. I'm talking myself into going, again!
The smiles on the kids faces are awesome!
Of course, we do have a problem conflict with the fin clipping. What day is that, Jerry? These kid fishing days have two separate dates. I don't know which conlficts.
Jen

Re: Want to help?
Brad,
Can you help me catch fish? I'm surely a kid at heart.
I'm pretty sure we're out of town, but if not, I'm in.
