FYI: Hubby and I had a long chat with an enforcement officer who was checking clammers this past week.. He said they were handing out a lot of tickets. Don't hide the clams in your gun.

At the meeting on June 7th in Portland, which according to
the internet ODFW is from 8 to 10 a.m., there is supposed to be information discussed regarding the concerns about Oregon clamming....supposedly there is a report of some kind. ... this could mean licenceing, number of days, looking at Washington clammers coming over with no fee, waste, other illegal actions of group clammers, etc.
Does anyone have any information regarding this or has anyone been to a meeting recently.
**I think this is really an important matter for
the future of clamming in Oregon and since it is a whole new ballgame, we as
Oregonians need to have a sayso in it as well.
**Washington's management has public meetings in a variety of locations before each new season, and I think they have listened. However, for an example, we question
having like 2 separate days open...an example..Thursday followed by Saturday which happened last year. It was difficult for us to
pay for an extra motel day at not very cheap rates.
I am writing this very fast and hope that others out there may have some insight or clout about
this meeting, future or past meetings. We will also try to find out more info early next week.
It was also suggested that each WRITE their
legislative reps with their ideas, concerns, as they will make final decisions.
This is strictly a heads up for all interested!
We don't all have to agree but just be supportive for a sport that a lot of us know can totally disappear...even though Long Beach looks good now, if you are old enough,
you can remember Long Beach when..!
