Default Clamming now

Just got a wild hair to go clamming. I see the low at Seaside is at noon, got plenty of time. Problem is I haven't heard anything lately. Anybody know anything? Is it open? Is it good? Thanks a bunch.

I was also thinking of going down sat. with the family. Was going to call the clamming # that ODFW has but can not seem to find it.

I'm going to give Saturday a shot also. My Brother and his wife dug on a +.2 a few weeks ago and limited quickly.

Went last Saturday night on a -.02 we got 11 in 1hr at Seaside. Night clamming on your first time is a little tricky, but makes a great adventure. Good luck.

Bill went this morning.
He didn't see a single clam.
He's on his way home, all bummed out.
No clam fritters tonight!

Dug at Gearhart today. The digging was pretty tough, as the surf was pounding pretty hard. It took about an hour to get a limit of pretty nice clams. I had to move around a bit to find them. There were no clams up high - you had to dig in the surf to find them. I'd say limits were more of the exception than the rule.

The clams have been at the waters edge and not high.Look for thre little black kneck hole which is much smaller than the usual dohnut looking hole. You need waders and stay in about 2 to 4 inches of water and you will have no poblem getting limits.Go to the drive on beach at Gearhart and go about 1/4 to 1/2 mile up and look for high spots and work them.Once you find a honey hole remeber it and keep going back to that area.Good luck.Don't be affraid to pound a handle, some times it can make all the difference and other times it can mess you up.Phi Slamma Clamma!!!

Yep, nearly all the clams were 4-5" long across the shell, with the majority being on the 5" side.
