Dear Mr. Anderson:

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about the spring Chinook salmon fishery and the allocation of fish between sport fishers and commercial gill netters. I sympathize with your frustration. Since this is a state issue, I have taken the liberty of forwarding your letter to your state representative.

Fishing is an important part of Oregon's economy, and I have supported federal efforts to restore fish runs to the Columbia River. I helped secure $2 million for salmon habitat restoration projects on the Lower Columbia River and Tillamook Estuary. I have also fought for full funding for the Mitchell Act and the Pacific Coast Salmon Recovery Program.

Thanks again for letting me know your feelings about this important issue. I will continue to monitor this situation and will keep your views in mind. For more information about my work in Congress, please visit my website at www.house.gov/blumenauer.

Sincerely,

Earl Blumenauer
Member of Congress

It is cool, but was it sincere or just a chance for as politician to show a voter what he/she has done....as in look what I have done, please vote for me again so I can continue making the money that I do.... sorry, I don`t have much faith? in politics or politicians.

I agree with you. This is a result of a request from this board to voice our concerns.

I do not have a problem with a politician doing the "politics" stuff. Thats their job. And any effort they make for the good of our sport fishery, I am all for it.
