Default Cheep gas

I stopped the other day at ARCO to get some ice and shrimp and since I was tired and didn't want to stop again before heading home I had my boat tank topped off with about 12 gallons of gas.

Big mistake. Right of the bat my motor started missing and running like crap.

I'll never get gas from a cheapo place again and I'll stick to were I usually go.

David-David-David cheep gas what is next buying Salmon Eggs from Fishing Eddie . You know that only the best gas goes in boat motors. I learned years ago to only run the best gas in my Chain Saws and 2 stroke motors. You get better performance and it burns cleaner , this adds up to less maintenance and more fishing time, like you need more of that  .

All of the marine mechanics I have talked to, say to only use Chevron or Texaco in boats. I know, I made the mistake years ago.

Arco, and many of the "off brand" stations use ethanol as an extender, much like the low emission gas we have to buy in the winter. However, I think they use a higher amount than the 10% required during the "clean air" season. I like to buy my gas outside the urban areas when I can, during the "corn gas" season.

Get yourself a SHELL gas card. I get money back and save 6% on every gallon. The key is to pay it off every month. I am ahead a few hundred of dollars.

I regularly fill up at an arco station and due to the volume of traffic they dont have gas in their tanks long enough to get bad fuel. I have had no issues with my Arco staion, but I have not had the pleasure of filling at that specific arco.

I like my cheep gas and will keep buying it till I get shafted. I save 5-10 cents per gallon and when you put 30 gallons in the boat and 30 gallons in the truck it adds up.

find a station you trust and use it. but don't be afraid to get gas somewhere else.

Shell is one of the worse poluters in the world! I wouldn't stop at a Shell station if they were giving gas away.

I bet the shrimp were dead, and the ice had melted too

Nah, j/k about that, but I too have noticed that the jeep ran a liitle poorer when I used to get occasional gas there.

They usually have good bait there tho, and I have seen some pretty interesting people there at 4 am

I wonder if they finally switched off of gasahol for the winter. The extra alcohol the stations are required to add in the winter months, tends to make things run a little worse when it's applied for the first time, and usually when they switch back to regular gas, it takes awhile for the engine to get used to it again. That might be it, cuz it's the time of year for them to be switching back to the good stuff. Most stations in the state should have swithced in February, but some run behind.

Just a thought from an ex gas jockey  Of course it could all be in the gas too, I hope the boat runs better for ya.

It was on TV last night that Shell has changed the gas additives and several thousand people have had the fuel systems plug up and they have found a thick brown stuff in there tanks. Shell has payed for the removal and clean up for these people. Hope you're not one of them

In any case I suggest you always fill the boat on the way home from the ramp and always at the same station. This will completly alleviate the condensation problem caused by partially full tanks and humid conditions. If you get a load of crappy gas then you know exactly where it came from.

I like Texaco but they are always 10 to 15 cent a gallon higher than the Arco at 92nd and Holgate. Good gas seems more likely at a high volume station and I have had good fuel there for several years.

I have been buying gas from the same arco for my truck and boats for the last 7 years now with out a problem.i am a mechanic by trade and i use to tell people to get gas from texico or chevron, but i now think it matters more on who owns the station, how old the station is and if they sell a high amout of fuel .MOST IMPORTANT IS ((DONT GET ANY GAS WHILE THE TANKER IS IN THE PARKING LOT)) it mixes up the crud on the bottom of the stations tanks.

P.S i have seen more cars-trucks come in to the shop with fuel problems from texico (60%) then any other, next comes cheveron(30%)now i dont do boats or 2 strokes but mine have never had a problem.
