I think the lower river is the ticket this time of year. Try heading up river from John Day in 12- 15ft. of water.

Hay chad, try right in front of the church on the washington side, cross the astoria bridge go left 1 or 2 miles U will see where everyone is fishing! Go at low tide and fish the in coming! Bait fresh sand shrimp! good luck! .. shakerfish!..
