Default Okuma Celilo

I was looking at the okuma web site and they have a celilo spinning rod that would be perfect for plunking and even bank fishing for sturgeon it can chuck up to 16 oz of lead any way have any of you seen this reel in the stores or is it going to be something I have to hunt for if so I will just pick up an ugly stick. If you have seen it in stores which stores and how much are they price wise thanks for the info Rp

We saw one at GI Joe's on Lancaster in Salem last week. Under $70.00 on sale IIRC.

Saw it in longview last summer for $44. I was going to pick up the casting one in 12' but passed on it for a few weeks...when I did go to get it..it was gone :depressed:
I've seen a few out there and they work just fine.

My preference is the casting mobels though..especially for distance casting like sturgeon.

I have a 7 foot "pool Cue" Okuma Celilo. Caught several 8 foot plus sturgeon on it. I like it, and the price was really good too...

I have an 8'6" 6-12lb rod which I bought last summer, and now use all the time for Steelhead and Coho. Got it on sales for about $40 from GI Joes. Bought it with the idea of having a "spare" rod for fishing with floats/bobbers, and now I use it all the time. I purchased an Okuma Epixor EF30 spinning reel to use with it, and it works GREAT!

I also have a 8-17lb version which I use for Salmon, sometimes. I don't like it as well. Don't know much about the heavier rods..

You planning on hitting Meldrum? I might be out there sometime this weekend. I've got a stinky fish smelling 88 white subaru station wagon and usually park towards the close end of the bar. I can hit that fishery and study for class at the same time so I may find myself wandering that way today/tomorrow. Of course the crowd might be ridiculous but I haven't been by on the weekend lately.
