Depends. Where are you referring to? Columbia, coastal tidewater, coastal river? If you have the right boat(s) you can fish from now till winter steelhead if you are willing to drive some.

I am referring to the rivers accessable from most of the willamette valley area. Siletz, alsea, columbia, willamette, santiam, etc... If i knew what i was doing i wouldnt have an issue driving south however this is my first year for fall chinook so im still "cutting my teeth" if you will. trying to stay local so that i can get more time in and practice. Maybe next year when i know what im doing i will travel more outside of my home range. I dont mind driving an hour or two for a day of salmon/steelhead fishing, however i cant justify driving and camping in my rig if i am not sure what i am doing.

Speaking just in generalities....as there are always exceptions. And of course the ODFW Regs control all of these opportunities.

Lower Columbia River Fall Chinook...Mid -August through Mid & Late September, however, sometimes there are good bursts through mid October.

Tillamook Bay & Tidewater Fall Chinook Mid September- Late October.

Lower Trask River is usually good in October & the Lower Wilson River more so in November.Again, sometimes you will take bright kings in the Wilson into late December.

Rogue River BayFall/Summer Kings ....August & early September.

Chetco Fall Chinook...December

Lots of rivers in between...but kinda gives you a feel for it?

It would help to know how local. Some of those rivers you reference can be a looooong ways apart.

On the Columbia (and I fish the mouth of the Deschutes alot) the chinook bite ended around the third week in Sept last year. It was about a week earlier than usual. After that there are still some A-runs to catch and then the B-runs come in. I've fished for them into January. Season is open 'till March 31st. After that it' a waiting game for the Springers. Alot of the Columbia fish you follow up the river if you want to keep fishing. There's always the Hanford Reach for late Fall run Chinooks, and the Snake and Clearwater for winter fishing steelies. How much money you got and how far you want to drive and how big are your ?????
