Default rattler recipes

going to a family reunion next weekend in hood river and i am planning on heading up to the mouth of john day (around lepage park) and getting some rattler.
i have never tried rattler, and we are having a potluck for the family reunion so what better time to try it.

so anyhows i am looking for good recipes for it, id like to prepare it a couple ways but i am gonna be limited on what i have for dishes and such.

the best one i have found so far is marinating it in honey and teriyaki sauce for a few hours and the rolling it in sesame seeds and bbq'n it
but what it doesnt say is how long to cook it for and what not.

also how far behind the head is a safe place to cut it off, i know that if you are healthy that you can ingest rattlesnake venom and it will not hurt you whatsoever, but that is not the case with me i have GERD so i tend to get ulcers alot.

i have alot of experience with handling snakes and reptiles, i have been going after them since i was a kid and had many for pets
i will not be handling these however i plan on using my boat hook and a machete.

and it seems to be a touchy subject but if you think i am heading to the wrong place for them then let me know if you know of a better one around there.
i would like to get a couple of them because there is gonna be about 50-70 people out there.
we are gonna be at tollbridge park in hood river

Ive had it a couple times. Try not to get one to close to the water cause if they have been eatin fish they will be fishy. I never thought that would be the case but was told that and have experienced it. We just lightly bbq it. Also it was soaked in squirt for about an hour before cookin. Hope this helps. Let us know how it turns out.

If you are headed to the John Day I would try Cottonwood Bridge area we have aquired many buzz worms over the years there. The only way I have ever cooked it is marinated in buttermilk for a couple hours then coated in bread crumbs and fried in olive oil with some onion. A recipe one of the guys we fish with told me about. It was ok but nothing to jump up and down about. Good luck

Boil in lye until the vile reptile is reduced to a greyish colored paste....then bury it far away from the dinner table

Sorry..just having fun. I have eaten some pretty exotic things, including Hasma which is frog hormone...but I don't think I could eat a snake. My younger brother travels extensively and often. Somewhere in the far east he went into a restaurant that had a glass display case containing a bunch of Cobras. They were for the dining pleasure of the patrons
