Default ROGUE SPRINGER ADVICE

I was hoping to take the boys to the rogue and see if we can get lucky (fishing). We have never been on the river before and we only have a prop drive boat so we are limited to deeper water although we a shallow draft boat if that helps. Will I just need to take the usual springer gear we fish with here or do you have any favorites you can share with us. We have been told to fish inside corners and in shallow water 5-12 ft.Any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Probably the best place for you is where I go (I too have a prop) and you start just up from Gold Beach and launch at Indian Creek. Go upriver from there but take it slow. Some spots get 4-5' and it's tidally influenced so it can get pretty low. Go upriver about a mile and you'll come to an island. If you can get the inside slots as you mentioned. The best tell tail is being right where you can't see bottom anymore. Usually that's 5-7' of water. The fish tend to follow that line. Spinnerbaits, spinners, and kwikfish are the methods of choice there. You can meander upriver there pretty much to the top of elephant rock, then it will get shallow from there. Good luck and let me know how you do.

Yup, what tailchaser said. At high tide, you can get up above John's hole, to the top of the Clay Banks, and if the water comes up, you can get farther. The stretch around Elephant Rock is generally the go-to spot, it is generally a tide-influenced bite. If you can fish higher up the river, the bite generally spreads out.

Good luck, and post your results here!!!!
