Default Clackamas 5/14

Wheeeew.....what a long day. Fished 7am to 7pm......lost one chinook, hooked two steelies and landed one around 9lbs. Didn't seem like there was any great action. However there were two guys fishing just above riverside along a steep bank in a deep hole and they had three steelies. Saw Dave Johnson, Bob Toman, Jerry Toman and a few other guides I didn't recognize. Mostly they were using diver and bait.

I heard that it is supposed to rain Friday, how will that effect the fishing on the lower Clack(Carver to Clackamette) and is anyone picking up fish by side drifting?

diver and bait and back bouncing.

the effects of the rain will depend on how much. the river has a pretty good flow right now but is running pretty clear.

Drift fished from my favorate bank rock this evening. I didn't catch a thing in the 45 minutes I put in. Sure did enjoy the nice weather, why it wasn't much over a month ago I stood on that same rock freezing my chee-chee's off.

Most fishers I saw were using bobber and jig.

There are no fish in the Clackamas right now. Wait until july before you try Right DJ?

Fished last night above Carver. Saw two fish jump but not on the end of my line. :depressed:

Sure is hard to get a straight answer on the board right now aye?

Why .....Smallfry...."I did of course I was running the boat, ha ha.....I yelled at Jason to wait, wait for the take down.........after about 20 seconds I said okay reel....it never took it down just looked like a trout was pecking the bait, then it swam towards the boat, put up a fair fight but with 17# test how much fight do you get? There were several holes with steelies laying in them, but really bait shy, as we tried to slide drift where we spotted them laying.

Thanks to the Moleman I caught my first Steelhead
yesteday. He worked the boat hard for 12 hours while showing me the ropes. It was a long day, but I'll remember it forever.

I caught 1 chrome summer run in 3 hours fishing from the bank last pm. Next to the fish, the nicest part was the 1 jet that went by me actually stayed on the other side of the river so as not to disturb my fish. I sure appreciated that and I caught my steelhead after he went by.

The river gave up a summer and a nook to my boat. Drifting eggs worked for us.

Hey Moleman, was that you with the black kicker motor on your driftboat? We were in the brown driftboat.
