Digital Camera Deal
I just saw a good price in Sunday's Staples ad for a Cannon digital. I own an inexpensive 640X480, non-zoom, no memory card camera. It does OK, but this looks like quite a good price for 1.3 megapixels with zoom. I just sent the following advice to an ifisher and thought someone might either benefit from it or add to it.
I would recommend the following features:
1) Resoultion greater than 640X480. 1.3 megapixels is probably more than good enough. People tend to get caught up in bigger numbers because "quantitative" is easy to compare. 3.3 megapixels might be nice if you're going to enlarge pictures a lot, but it also requires more memory per picture. Have you priced the memory cards. 64 MB usually sells for ~$50. Right now $20 rebate. (Am I trying to sell you or me ??) You don't need resolution better than the human eye can see.
2) Zoom. My little camera doesn't have zoom, although it is a bit more compact. The Cannon has 6X. It's 3X optical & 2X digital (or visa versa).
3) Memory card compatiblity. My little camera has internal memory, but cannot accept a memory cart. It'll take 16 - 640X480 resolution pictures. After that you must download pics to computer or erase them.
4) LCD Screen. Mine does not have a screen, so I cannot view what's in the camera. I need to plug into the computer to know which pictures I may want to delete. This camera has a color screen.
5) Interface compatible. USB. I'm not sure if Mac users have a different interface.
