Default Eagle Creek

Do anyone know, if the Eagle Creek Hatchery has switched over, or is in the process of switching over, to using the Clackamas River Native Brood Stock? I seem to be hearing or seeing conflicting information about this, and would like to know.

Thanks to anyone who can shead some "light" on this.

Eagle Creek uses it's own fish for it's Broodstock program.

The fish may be reared or raised elsewhere, but they are acclimated to the creek before release.

The last releases of Clack fish in Eagle Creek was April '01, and totaled about 10,400 fish. They also released 54,800 Big Cr. stock during that same time frame.

All returning fish from that release would be 3 salt fish this year.

FWF1,

If I hear you correctly you are saying that the Eagle Creek hatchery has started a broodstock stealhead program from Eagle Creek stock. Very cool! Do you know what the releases have been?

Have they started a broodstock program with Coho?

Ok, I should re-phrase the term "Broodstock Program".

Another way to say it might be they only use Eagle Creek fish for their releases, not Clack fish as was suggested in the opening post by GLTF.All hatcheries in Oregon are now required to use "In Basin" fish when they spawn.

Anyway, I spoke with someone at the hatchery today and they reported around 785 fish for the year back to the trap, spreading over many different age classes(2,3,4 and some 5 salt), and months. He also indicated their final spawn is scheduled for few weeks from now, indicating that they're not expecting too many more fish back(2 today in the trap).

I'm not sure about the coho, but I can have that info in a few days if you'd like.
