Re: This old Wood Stove
A hint...get out a wire brush and give it a couple good scrubbings...then get a couple cans of black stove paint. Cleans them up really nice and you will probably get more money for it. This is what happened with mine after a bit of work.

Wow, that one is beautiful! I'm sure per square inch mine will put out the same heat but yours is real pretty!
I might do that. I put it on Craig's List for $100 just a little while ago. I don't know if I'm High or low or what ... guess I'll find out?

depends
At least half the night but if you use the right wood and close the vents down just right I remember getting it all the way into the early morning.
I've cooked on it and because it's so thick (it weighs about 110 lbs) it holds heat and for a long time. The base of it is designed with waves and the slides have slotted grooves for more surface area. All of these things make up a quality wood burning stove. This is not a lightweight stove that you want to move very far from your truck.

I live in Vancouver.
In my experience, that "how long will it last" is a balance thing; balance of amount of air and type of wood.
The size of the woodstove almost doesn't matter but a quality heavy steel like this one will last longer than the thin easy to pack models.
As an example, I have a huge woodstove in our cabin that probably weighs 300 plus pounds and I have yet to get it to burn all night long and into the morning yet either. Same deal though, if I use an older growth tight ring fir and close down the vents, it will stay warm and burn longest. The quality of the woodstove helps but getting a stove to keep heating from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am is an art of which I haven't been able to master yet.
John
I'd like to have others chime in on this too.

Yes quality wood and choked down low, but also bigger logs, stacked higher.

Re: This old Wood Stove
That's a nice cast iron stove that is similar to a Jotul 602.
I ran an Upland 27 (which is also similar) for years.
You will need smaller sticks (hardwood if possible) to be sure, but if you get it hot and then stuff it good, you will have embers in the morning for an easy restart.
That is, after you learn the damper setting sweet-spot.
This stove, wide open, could drive you out of a wall tent easily

Re: This old Wood Stove
Better sell it quick. After Aug 1 it will be illegal to sell a non-certified stove...
