Default Fishing Report: a success story

For the second time this week I fished Bachelor Island through the tide change and then trolled the Channel. For the second time this week, the big river was incredibly stingy. Tuesday I hogged next to a guy that hooked 8, landed several and kept one ... all in 2 hours! The channel and fresh, home dyed prawns were the ticket in 8 feet of water. Hey, no one else seems willing to troll behind the pilings, but it's been my honey hole! I'm spilling secrets here! Today we only landed one sparkling river-gem. But the one that got away - a headshake just shy of the net - was huge. If I haven't given enough clues, just follow me tomorrow! I'll be doing the same thing (and not fighting the urban crowd scene).

Pete,
I bet my wife apologized half a dozen times for losing that fish on the way home. She really felt bad. Thanks for the day on the river.

Great report pete. I trolled last nite at fred's at high slack for a few hours and didn't see any caught. A dumb question, it sounds like you anchored on outgoin and then trolled low slack? Is low slack normally better than high for channel trolling? Also what magic lure that the guy next you was gettin them on? Thanks for any tips, I hope to get out at least one more time on saturday.

Fished Bachelor today from 8:30 till 3:00.

We put seven to the boat, four were clipped.
We fished from a hogline - 28', using sardine wrapped quickfish. A good day. (finally)

Bait, You interpretted the clues accurately! I'm not sure the tides right now are affecting the channel much. With the higher than normal flows, it seems like the bite was pretty continuous. There were fish caught sporadically all morning today. I ducked out before the noon-time downpour with another fish-in-the-box.

Fin, were you the hot boat, or was today the day the Bachelor openned the little black book and gave out the numbers for all his friends?

Sounds great guys...where is bachelor island? I'm not that familiar with the channel. I know where Coon Island is and Fred's...where is channel island from those places? Hope you can help. Haven't caught a Springer yet this year and am feeling a little desparate. Any help woud be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you know Coon Island, that's the place to be tomorrow. Bring a rain coat. Make sure your gear is on the bottom! The water was gorgeous today and there were fish biting.
