Default Hole in the ramp at Brown's

Okay, this time of year you don't know who or what to believe because some posts may be falsely placed to protect someone's favorite fishing area. But this one is true!

I put in at Brown's landing yesterday, and there is a hole in the middle of the ramp that is about a foot deep and 3' in diameter. Luckily I was using my little smokercraft, so I was able to get out of it, but I'm sure I would have been stuck with my big boat. I threw a couple of big rocks in the middle of the hole, but its still there.

The ramp at Brown's has always had a drop off which makes it a "high water only" ramp, but it seems to have deteriorated even further. Just fair warning before someone does damage to their boat, trailer, or truck.

That ramp is really unsafe and honestly I think its a piece of junk. There is no good parking and no dock. I'm not interested in trying to put a boat in there againg until it gets repaired. Just my .02

If I get a chance, I'll call them tomorrow from work. If memory serves me right, the ramp is a county road, and Brown's tried to claim ownership. When they lost the battle, they got a little upset and stopped maintaining the ramp and dock. It used to be that if you could launch without using their dock, you could salute them when it was time to pay the launch fee that they tried to collect because they weren't entitled to fees collected for use of the county's ramp. Then they upped the parking fee, and got you that way. I have not done any business with them since they let the dock get to the point that it's unsafe, and will continue to take my business elsewhere. Besides, they aren't an Ifish sponsor!

Thanks for the heads up. I use the ST Helens ramp or Fred's since ownership of the parking lot changed. I won't pay the new owners parking fee , and public parking is very limited.
