Default D.B. Anchor Damage

Looking for suggestions and solutions...How do you prevent your DB anchor from denting / damaging the side or bottom of the boat when in tow? (My boat is aluminum.) I have thought of building a little wooden / cushioned box for it. So, What do you do?

Depends on what type of boat u have! Weld an anchor nest in the back or just put the anchor in a bucket and store it in a safe place during transit.

Go to any drift boat dealer and buy an aluminum cradle for your anchor. Weld or bolt it to your transom. When in tow, put a bungee cord over the top of the anchor in the cradle to keep it from bouncing out

Like people said, get an anchor nest and put it in, wrap the anchor rope around the nest and pull tite and cleat it down.

NOt sure a bungee will keep it in....

Or take it off and put in a milk crate in back of truck...

I don't let it swing, and would prefer to leave it in the boat -vs- putting it in the back of my truck all the time. Call me lazy, I just see that as onother thing to do. Anyways, I like the welding idea. It seems like that would work well for a pyramid weight, which I am now using. I did have an odd shaped home-made jobby that beat on the boat quite a bit. Thanks for any and all input...

Get something like this anchor nest. Set the anchor in it and bungee it in, stays put real well. Don't forget to bungee it though.

Anyone know approximate price of these nests off hand? I am close to a GI Joes (who isn't) and I'm guessing they won't carry one. I am also close to Clackacraft. For someone in the Gresham / Sandy area, what's my best bet? Thanks again...

You might try North River, they are just down the street from Clackacraft.

Note:

These dont have to be welded....they can be bolted on with screws through the transom, especially if you have a removable transom for a motor mount....

Motor mount... interesting. I don't have a removable transom. I have been mounting my 8hp motor right on the back with a small board between the screws and the aluminum. Could be beating on the boat more than necessary as well. I will have to look into that as well. It's not a new boat, but if I can avoid unnecessary damage, especially over time...why not. Thanks

If you don't want to undo anchor and put in the back of the truck, I suggest you get an anchor nest. Weld it to the stern of the boat, and your done. Anchor stows away nicely and no more dents in the boat.
