Default How to make a waterproof trailer connection??

Any ideas on how to make the connections on my EZ-Loader water tight????

Recently troubled with trailer lights & want to fix it for GOOD!

Use electrical tape & wrap the connections?

Shrink wrap the connections?

DI-electric stuff?

Silicon Goo?

What do I use??

Thanks!

So far the best I have found is to use Liquid tape and heatshrink it until it squirts out both ends on the heatshrink, I dont think i would use a bullet crimp either, I would solder the connection. Better would be to take your lights apart and replace the short supplied wires with a straight connection to your trailer wiring.

Is it water or a bad connection?

I had trouble until I got a good quality RV style 6 pin connector and plug. Much larger contact areas and a better method of connecting = no more trailer light trouble for me.....

Which connections are you talking about?

If they're splices back near the lights I'd use silicone-filled wire nuts. I got mine at Carquest. Most stores don't carry them, but Carquest can get them from their warehouse.
That liquid electrical tape works pretty good, too.
I solder most of my connections as well. You get a lot better contact and they don't pull apart.

Use Lanacote for all of your connections and shrink tubing, and liquid tape. Lanacote is available at Englunds. It's absolutely the best to eliminate corrosion and keep the moisture under control.
