I called Steve's Archery in Walla Walla because I've seen Steve use them. They seem to work.

Steve says the infor you're looking for is in Bill Herzog's "Steelhead Drift Fishing" book, pg. 22.

1/2 - 3/4 inch dia foam. about an inch long. Use large sewing needle to thread yarn.

Steve says it used to be a guide secret among Seattle area guides. Personally, I don't believe in magic. I think guides and experienced fishermen just know how put something in front in front of fish, colors, and when to switch if what they're using doesn't work.

Maybe someday, I'll know. That's part of why I'm an Ifish member!

With a moniker like "Rags" I'd guess that today (but not to exclude other occasions) you're a "Lying piece of dog squeeze!"

Great link DanS.

Vinny, Vinny, Vinny. I'm just joking man. I caught my first 20# Steelhead on a rag and have been hooked since. I like to use them with sandshrimp or eggs. I started using them 10 years ageo on the OP. Now you see them in all the major tackle shops.

Rags,

I caught your drift.
Moniker: "Rags," + Claims they "don't" work = obvious falsehood.

I'm definately going to try 'em.

Where do you buy the foam (backer foam?)?

I got my backer foam at Home Depoe. About $4.00 for 20 ft. Many different sizes to choose from.
