Default Some Cowlitz Smelt Logistic’s!

Well the ifisher’s burned up a bit of my cell time today and I was getting tired of approximating distances for ifisher’s and non-ifisher’s and figured accuracy was better anyway.

So here you go and if the accuracy isn’t accurate I will edit and change at another time (2005).

Exit 36 on I-5 takes you into Longview which turns into Tennant Way.
That is where you want to go if you are going to the lower river perhaps Gearhart Gardens.
I believe you take the first right after you cross the Cowlitz River called Dike Road.

But most of the action is upriver a bit so that is where the logistic’s will start and end (Thank God).

Exit 39 I believe it is “Longview-Kelso exit” (ya know the one with the McDonalds) and head west (left) about a mile or so and you cross the Cowlitz and come to a light.
That’s where you hang a right.
If you went left (south), you would be heading down stream and hit Hudson st/ave. approx .8mile. where Bob’s is located a mile or so to the west.
But to confuse you, you head right or north or upriver from the bridge and as soon as you cross under the second bridge (approx. 100 yards), you are in public smelt country.
Where we have been getting them is near the signal (the only one upstream) and that is approx. only .3 mile after you turn off the bridge.
Go another 1.1 mile and you are at the Carnival Market hole.
(For you tourista’s that is right across the street from the “famous” Carnival Market.
Go 1 mile further and you are at the famed “Rocky Point” (but on the west side-hence Westside Highway) and that can be good on either side of the river.
Travlin’ up the highway you come across the Lexington Chevron Station/Mini Mart approx. .6 miles up the road and you go past Riverside Park and you hit my honey hole .7 miles later.

So there you go. If you want to get rid of my entire BS you are looking at my OD readings as:

Lexington 46.3
Chevron Station 47.0
Rocky Point 47.6
Carnival Market 48.6
Signal Light 49.7
Bridge 50.0

Hudson Ave. 50.8

This is from north to south and for the average tourist, if you are coming from the south, you just have to reverse it.

Hey Dan, are you headed to Depoe Bay this week? I'm thinking about heading up to the Cowlitz this Friday. Maybe I'll get to see you there. I know what you mean about using to many cell minutes. I get new ones tomorrow. They sure get expensive when you go over your allowance  .

Good morning Dano. Can't go today, however tomorrow I plan to park under the Kelso Bridge and dip 20 or so yards down river about 10:30AM. If you would like, I will live tank a few crab in my cooler and bring up for you.

Let me know if you can make it.

I was headed to the coast but with all this dippin' & stuff I'm way behind.
Gotto pick up my daughter in Forest Grove Friday evening so I will just wait and take her down to the coast for the weekend.

Email me your phone# down streamer and I'll give you a call.
