Yup, they're here! I got out for a few hours yesterday on the Channel. I could see about 6 boats, and there was about one fish caught per boat... except mine. I had a nice hookup, but as soon as I took my hand off the reel to put the boat into nuetral, the sucker did the ol' "swim straight at the boat and spit the hook" trick. Who teaches them this?

I did manage to catch a nice fin-clipped steelie. Unfortunately, he was on his way TO the ocean for the first time. I couldn't believe that a 8" smolt would attack a whole blue label herring!

OS- Blue label rocks until the water clears, then you can switch to green. Unfortunately, I got a bad batch of blue label (very soft even after I brined 'em - Zaq warned me right after I bought them, and "all bait sales are final"), so I have to run them whole instead of plug-cut. I'm not very good at getting the roll right with whole herring, so yesterday I was using a RSK (and a red fish flash). I have some even bigger herring in the freezer that I may try until the visibility gets close to 3'. I am also gonna try a chartruese KoneZone flasher next time.

NW- I've never tried herring on anchor. It might work if the current was rippin', but I was trolling. So was everyone else where I was, but the hoglines should start any day.

Thanks Beefcake, I've tried anchovy on anchor but that was a different stream. Keep after em.
