id. painter. springer reports. (results from my spring break, its over)
A month or so ago i ask you folks how and where to catch some spring salmon durring my spring break. Im from idaho and needed info on how to catch em. Everyone was greatwith thier responses ,and the information was right on the mark. I took my 9year old son and his beat friend. We ended up fishing just below the Hamilton boat launch in Wash..We went down to the south side of a large island, just a mile or two below the launch. The first day we didnt catch any fish but we watched as a couple locals landed several fish. The next day we caught a real nice keeper in the morning but couldnt stay stuck with our anchor, so we spent a couple of hours back trolling . Each time i pulled the anchor my arms would go more numb (due to a bad disk in my spine). I spent the afternoon of the second day trying to feel better after pulling anchor three times. But the rest of the trip was fantastic. One day we landed two fish ,two days with three one with four. So, in 5 days we landed 13 fish (6 were keepers).. My son got to battle three on his rod and his friend the same. My sons friend got to catch and keep his first salmon! We had a ball and want to say thanks to all who contributed. I just got back from a new M.R.I. Im going in for surgery this week to get my disk removed. I feel like i did pretty well, running three rods for 5 days with a half numb body. The boys grew up much this trip. they turned into little salmon fisherman. Thanks to all.. P.S. to Fear no fish. The reports i was getting from the wind werent very good durring my stay. I would have fished it but needed the freedom of being anchored to keep the little boys with me fishing.
