Default need someone with scanner to check o2 sensors

hi i was wondering if anybody that has a scanner could check my o2 sensors my girlfriends 03 jeta 2.0l threw a p0420 code wich is cataylist below threshold, might be a cat might be o2 sensor i would like to see wich one before shotgunning parts at it i could pay 20 bucks or something kind of broke or else id just take it to a shop, i think the snap on solus would read it or vag com let me know if you can help

You need a special scanner for the Jetta (the VAG software is proprietary to VW cars and doesn't work with most cheap auto parts scanners, ask me how I know).

I have one that hooks up to your PC. The software and the plug were around $40. You welcome to try mine or borrow it.

Hit the cat with your hand it will sound like broken glass inside if its bad, and if the chamber turned sideways inside you would notice a big power loss. If not prolly a 02 sensor, but guessing your car has more then one, my chevy has 4

yeah i changed the rear o2 sensor last week and that got rid of the p0139 code the cat isnt rattling power is up to par
